Rhodes Island

Rhodes, one of the most famous international vacation spots, is the capital of the group of 12 Greek Islands known as the Dodecanese in South East Aegean Sea. Historically, Rhodes was famous world-wide for the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The well preserved medieval Old Town of the City of Rhodes has been declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site.

The city of Rhodes lies outside and within the walls of a well preserved too Venetian castle built by the Knights of Saint John.  Rhodes is near to many other famous islands, like Cos, the birthplace of the father of Medicine Hippocrates, and the holy Island of Patmos where St.Ioannis wrote his famous book of Apocalypsis. The island has indeed everything, from intense nightlife to important historical sites such as the Acropolis of Lindos.  There’s something for everyone;  spectacular surroundings, crystal clear seas, archeological sites, byzantine churches, picturesque villages, marvelous Greek cuisine and excellent local wine.  A must visit by all means!
